filmed entirely on location in london england, this series brought the famous swashbuckler to american television screens in 1955. robin hood and his merry men make their home in sherwood forest, robbing from the rich to give to the poor. starring richard greene as robin hood, bernadette o'farrell as maid marian, with ian hunter as sir richard, alexander gauge as friar tuck, archie duncan as little john, alan wheatley as the sheriff of nottingham and donald pleasence as prince john.'queen eleanor' the queen mother, eleanor of acquitaine, arrives in nottingham on a mission to collect money in aid of king richard's war against the saracens.'children of the greenwood' when the freeman a'bland flees from a false accusation of murder, his children are seized and held captive. the fugitive then joins robin's gang to rescue them.'secret mission' a mysterious hooded pilgrim seems anxious to make the acquaintance of robin and his gang.'tables turned' derwent and much 'obtain' some loot, which they heard was jewels, but instead turns out to be two children.
