Wayne in an early role stars as a wounded gunfighter who is cared for by a quaker family. In gratitude he restores water to the farm and defends a cattle drive from the laredo gang, but soon finds himself longing for his old life. Realising his mistake he returns to the love of one of the quaker women but must face a final showdown with the gang before he can properly settle down.
