dr. jennifer stillman (kinski) is a new york city therapist who takes job as an elementary school psychiatrist in the rural town of sierra vista, nevada. her presence is greeted with a collective cold shoulder and it soon becomes clear that this backward little town has a deep, dark secret that it's inhabitants are determined to keep buried. when she befriends an odd and gifted young boy, dr stillman finds herself in the middle of a battle between a vengeful and horrifying monster and the unspeakable evil at the heart of the town itself.
